True therapeutic gemstones are of inestimable value for people actively engaged in spiritual growth. These energy tools carry precise frequencies of light and sound that can be consciously used to nourish, purify and strengthen our subtle and physical bodies, much in the same way that we use botanical medicines, minerals, and vitamins for our physical bodies. And, as do all other medicines, therapeutic-quality gemstones also have strict standards of purity and production. First and foremost, for a gemstone to be therapeutic it must assist in the spiritual upliftment of humanity. This means that it helps the individual unfold in a positive spiritual direction. Not all gemstones have such a purpose. And while some may initially appear to have beneficial effects, these effects are achieved at some hidden cost to the individual. In other words, the purpose of these non-therapeutic gemstones is to move the individual in a negative direction. Second, for a gemstone to freely radiate its essential energy, it must be a high quality specimen. All gemstones occur in a wide range of quality--from very included with poor color to perfect clarity, purity, and rich color. Poor quality gemstones are simply unable to release their energies with purity and strength. This is similar to what we experience with people. Even though both are equally divine, a person whose essential being is obscured by negative thoughts and emotions is a poorer vehicle for expressing his or her innate divinity than another person whose is free of such limitations. Unlike with people, there are specific physical parameters for each variety of gemstone by which its therapeutic quality may be assessed. Specimens that do not meet these parameters will simply be ineffective. Third, prior to initial use, gemstones must be freed of any extraneous energies. Gemstones accumulate both positive and negative energies during the process of being mined, cut, strung and displayed. These energies must be removed with an appropriate cleansing procedure prior to use for therapy. This is why the common practice of feeling a gemstone to evaluate its therapeutic efficacy is notoriously unreliable. Most gemstones in stores are so contaminated with accumulated energies that any attempt to evaluate such a gemstone by feeling it will simply be an assessment of the accumulated energy, not of the gemstone itself. Fourth, during therapeutic use gemstones must be cleansed frequently to maintain their effectiveness. Gemstones tend to accumulate the negative energies you release in the process of healing. These energies burden the gemstone gradually inhibiting it, until it stops functioning completely. Daily cleansing of your gemstones will maintain their efficacy while providing you with the opportunity to complete the process of release. The simple ritual of cleansing is a good time to offer gratitude for the assistance you are receiving. The best and most reliable source of information on using gemstones as healing tools of light and sound is found in the Gemisphere Luminary by Michael Katz. This ground-breaking book contains discourses by the inner-world beings who know the gemstones best, the Gemstone Guardians. Discourses by thirty Guardians, all of whose gemstones are uplifting, introduce the mission or purpose of each gemstone, describe how its effects are achieved, suggest specific therapies and outline cleansing procedures. This book is a great place to begin exploring gemstone therapy or to expand your current understanding of the field. Isn't it time to incorporate these wonderful tools of light and sound into your life? |
